Tips And Tricks To Be Eco-Stylish!

Bye, bye Cinderella, let's swap our glass slippers for GREEN slippers!

In our green eco-edition, we wanted to give a nod to Barbra Streisand and Gisele Bündchen, honored at the last Hollywood for Science Gala.

Whether you are a boots, ankle boots, lace-ups, flip-flops, sneakers or sandals person, many brands of shoes are made to protect the environment while having optimal comfort!
Switching from natural latex soles to recycled rubber, vegetable or semi-vegetable tanned leather from fair trade, it is possible to change our consumption habits, to opt for an eco-responsible approach.

Business woman and model, Gisèle Bündchen, Ambassador for the United Nations Environmental Program, has embarked on this ecological movement by producing flip-flops and sandals which are 100% recyclable for less than €20, in association with Ipanema.

But if you would like to apply yourself, there are plenty of tips that can be life changing...
In our own style, let's opt for gourds, and replace our plastic bottles with them. Whether you are an active woman, a retired woman or a student, a small bottle of water in your purse is often necessary. But instead of choosing a plastic bottle which will be surplus to requirements once finished, let's take a stainless steel, metal, glass, or even plastic bottle with a sexy design, that will not be thrown away after use, in order to reduce this trade in "plastic forever more!"

For a healthier and more eco-stylish life
The start of the day, waking up is difficult, so there is nothing better than a little fair-trade coffee in order to arrive fresh at work!
After this delicious coffee, let's keep the grounds to give it a second life. In order to bring more cheerfulness to our home, indoor plants are good to decorate our living space. These plants need a nutritious contribution to grow and flourish and for that, nothing is better than to keep coffee grounds and organic waste (vegetable peel, eggshells, nut shells ...) to pop into their pots. And if you have any of this waste left, home-made compost is always useful for your garden or those of your loved ones. Oh, and while you are sipping that coffee of yours, you may wantto reflect on how you can reduce your carbon footprint!

Let's compost together!
After a trying week, the weekend is fast approaching: gardening, walking or indoor activities are essential for resting.
You decide to do a little sorting out in your bathroom and discover that your products contain parabens, phthalates, triclosan ...
These groups of chemical compounds are harmful to our health and that of the environment. After washing your hair with our expensive paraben shampoo or our phthalate day cream (serving as fixing agents to increase the penetration of the cream on the skin, which are in fact common products in PVC! Yes, in plastic…), these compounds are found in waste water (washing water, washing, sinks) which will then be treated in WWTPs (wastewater treatment plants).

Only, these substances are not eliminated after passing through the waste stations and are discharged directly into the sea! This is indeed a case of misinformation.
We think  that when our wastewater passes through WWTPs, it becomes clean! WRONG!

Just like these substances such as endocrine disruptors, antibiotics, manufactured nanoparticles (contained in sunscreens) and pesticides, which are not eliminated and end up in our seas as well.
Let's check and inform ourselves when purchasing these products to avoid polluting our oceans!
For a clean start it is possible to use black soap, Marseille soap, white vinegar and even lemon at home for all your household needs!

Ban lambda sunscreen and get mineral sunscreen?
Composed of mineral filters deposited on the skin to reflect UV rays, mineral sunscreen is a good way to replace these toxic creams, both for our skin and for the environment. These latter creams are composed of chemical filters that contain, among other things, oxybenzone, a chemical compound that causes bleaching and the death of coral reefs.
Some cosmetic brands are starting to sell mineral sunscreen, such as Avène, Sisley or Gamarde.
