The “Divine Feminine”, a New Trendy Movement?

Between the quest for meaning and excesses…

Well hello ladies! I am going to endeavor to give you a little feedback having read numerous books and articles concerning a new trendy movement (ultimately not that new... the explanations will of course follow). “But what is this about?” you would ask me, “What is this movement?”

“The Divine Feminine,” characteristic of the “psycho-philo-spiritual nebula”?
On your marks, ready? Go! The investigation begins! Firstly, we will gallop towards working out the notion of “The Divine Feminine”. According to Constance Rimlinger, doctor of social sciences, the “Divine Feminine” is “at the intersection of spirituality and personal development” and “is part of a quest for meaning and a “better living” characteristic of the “psycho-philo-spiritual nebula”.

Oh dear! But what is this “psycho-philo-spiritual nebula” stuff? An explanation is in order! Indeed, according to Nadia Garnoussi, lecturer in sociology, this nebula is a mixture of psychology, philosophy and religious spirituality allowing a “psychological reading of the world and of existence”. Let's stop the chitchat... and get to the point; Thanks to the various movements for the liberation of women's voices (#metoo…), the “Divine Feminine” invites women to re-evaluate themselves, find themselves and deconstruct “their construction of identity” following all those years of patriarchy they have endured.
But everything is not always so rosy. Certain beliefs can become harmful, and deviations can occur. The result…
Let’s take a look, in relation to the few words written in the introduction: the notion of the divine feminine has really existed since ancient times (e.g. Greek civilization). Women were represented in beliefs and myths (goddesses) as a powerful feminine concept linked to nature, protection and fertility. Implying a close link between these facts and this pseudo-new belief!

A hodgepodge between esotericism and cults…
The “Divine Feminine” is nevertheless punctuated by various beliefs, mixing esotericism and cults. Indeed, according to the so-called movement, women have supernatural faculties which could be brought to light via more or less occult initiations and practices. Erm, that is to say? Small non-exhaustive list of suggestions, my divine heroines! This includes plant-based recipes, lithotherapy (treatments with stones and crystals), rites punctuated by the stars, oracles, etc.
However, this so-called list can very quickly become bogged down with esotericism, and thus lead to certain deviations that can be damaging to oneself and to others... Many processes are antithetical to health! Different practices are carried out within this movement such as vaginal steam baths, leading to an imbalance in the vaginal flora, implying possible gynecological complications, and more!

A convergence towards sectarian excesses!
Certain small groups of the “Divine Feminine” target the physical and mental health of certain women! Women with endometriosis are more inclined to be contacted, especially those already present in support groups concerning this disease. Recruitment attempts are becoming more and more common. So, watch out, my contemporary queens! Period pain, menopause and even rape victims are also affected by this scourge.
Once the trap is sprung, introductory courses and training can be priced at exorbitant prices! The net tightens even more and some women can then become totally indoctrinated…

Well yes, all these excesses undermine the credibility of the movement, which initially advocated the liberation of women, via the emancipation of societal conditioning. But abuses are very present and can have a negative impact on feminist struggles and for certain other minorities...
