Tantric Sex

The word tantra is composed of two Sanskrit words "tanoti" meaning "expansion" and "trayati" meaning "liberation." This therefore refers to "the science of the expansion of consciousness and the release of energy." Just like the Kamasutra, Tantra is based on the principle that the body and mind are inseparable. It is therefore a practice of spiritual awakening which includes access to physical pleasure.

As we shall see, this practice includes breathing techniques and postures for channeling the sexual energy known as "kundalini". In this philosophy, the ultimate goal of sex is to achieve the fusion of male and female principles. Kundalini Shakti is the name given to this vital and fundamental energy, it animates all levels of energy, be that individual to a person or universal energy. Kundalini means "coiled". This energy, present in the individual person, is symbolized in the form of a snake lying in the energy center of the base chakra, at the bottom of the spine. This snake is said to be coiled three and a half times around a black Lingam (the Svayambhu Lingam), his head resting asleep on the top of the lingam. The practice of sacred sexuality participates in the inner transformation can lead to enlightenment.

HISTORY

Tantric sex has its roots in a multitude of writings of northern India from the seventh century. Its main thrust is the Tantra (of the God Shiva) which is traditionally transmitted by women; "the yogini" practicing yoga. Tantras are texts that are intended to be a continuation of the Veda. The Vedas are liturgies and ritualistic formulas that appear in India between 1500-1000 BC and possibly go back to even more ancient traditions.

They were not transcribed before the eighth century BC. Tantra present themselves as the ultimate teachings. Offering great knowledge of the world and the most advanced practices in the field of spirituality.

Tantra has always existed in all cultures (medieval alchemy, Arab love songs, courtly love of the troubadours) but its peak happens to be the tenth and the twelfth century in India.

In the West, the arrival of Eastern spiritual practices in the second half of the twentieth century led to the discovery of meditation and yoga and of this type of sexuality. One of Tantra's goals is to develop and channel the energy that lies dormant in us. The sexual act, called the "Maithuna" is one option that is on offer to experience this energy. Tantra allows sexuality to be integrated within a spiritual context.

PRINCIPLES

Tantric sexuality is based on an ancient Indian philosophy. This philosophy, Tantra, is in essence based on the opposition between the feminine and the masculine. Tantra is thus defined as the search for the fusion of the masculine / feminine opposition, to achieve a higher level of consciousness. In this sense, sexuality is one of the steps leading us to this higher level. Tantric yoga is a practice which allows the integration of the masculine and feminine principles to achieve this altered state of consciousness. Tantric yoga is sex. The approach to sexuality in tantric yoga opens up new visions and opportunities for new experiences. The spiritual path of Tantra is similar to that of the Tao, allowing things to be as they are, letting the cosmic currents carry the individual at their will. Tantric yoga is a way to overcome sexuality dominated by sexual action and the race to orgasm, in order to submit to more of a mystical experience. This powerful technique allows the development of sexual energy, to allow this energy to circulate in the body and conduct orgasmic surges to the brain. With this technique it is possible experience unique moments of sexuality, where the individual is connected to the cosmos.

PRACTICE

The body is seen as a wonderful tool at our disposal to refine and transform the consciousness, all that is required is to be careful as to what it can achieve and how quickly. Therefore, exercises are not rules or recipes to follow but methods to adopt between two partners, a receptive state to "what is." The key is to be patient, attentive and present, and let the sensations and feelings of pleasure grow, vary, circulate and be experienced. Your minds should be as open as possible, free from negative thoughts and concerns of everyday life. Communication between partners is equally important and the relationship will thus improve. Having a full and satisfying relationship requires a certain mental and physical preparation: Prepare for this using some rituals. Today we are driven to consumption and we want everything right here and right now. If you wish to acquire a Tantric mind, then you will wait for the right moment and prepare for this moment properly.

The Setting Arrange your setting as a "sacred space" according to your preference with a few accessories such as incense, draped fabrics, soft lighting, candles. Attention should be paid as to where the tantric love act will take place. This should be like a small sanctuary, where all the chosen elements are selected to promote concentration, calmness and well-being.

•The Body Careful cleanliness and personal care and lightly perfuming his body with lotions, perfumes, etc. without going too overboard. Everything should be subtle.
•Other Aspects Take your partner into consideration: using your eyes, let your partner your availability and openness. Sharpen and stimulate your 5 senses by simply observing your partner. This kind of contact allows the transition from slow movements to more sensual preliminary stages (caresses, love games) with full mutual enjoyment. Tantric rituals of touching are very important, the body of your partner can be enjoyed through administering massage, applying oils or creams. Even at the stage of the sexual relations, certain principles are fundamental, in order to experience these to the full.
The 4 basic foundations

  • Breathing: Think about breathing calmly and deeply throughout the practice. Your breathing should always be deep, calm and relaxed.

  • Detachment: Do not expect anything, do not actively seek orgasm and do everything just for the experience, to see where it leads you. Practice this detachment, in a relaxed state, with no particular intention.

  • Relaxation : Keep your body relaxed and give yourself up to the sensations. Many minor sexual failures (loss of erection , frigidity, vaginal dryness, etc.)then  naturally disappear when  relaxation and deep breathing are present during the sexual act.

  • Experience everything in the here and now.Let yourself indulge in the pleasures without imagining anything in particular. Be present. Just give yourself up to the experience with your partner.

Prolonging the pleasure According to Tantra , ejaculation is considered as a loss of vital essence, and it is limited to procreation. The object is to maintain the state close to orgasm for as long as possible, always delaying it. Identify the moment before orgasm, then relax by slowing your breathing or changing position, to stop the waves of pleasure from happening. The man can thus achieve orgasm without ejaculating, which helps prolong the sexual act. These slow and non-orgasmic relations aim to open the way to accessing the divine and learning to control sexual energy. Each partner must help the other in their mastery of the practice. By mastering the build up to orgasm, the pleasure will be only more intense.

The advice from WomensDestiny :   Tantric Sex is a learning process, giving yourself up to the sensual experience which advocates an opening of the spiritual senses of both you and your partner, with no taboos or limits. Meditation can also be a useful tool to learn how to control your breath and calm over excitement.
